BlueHalo’s LOCUST LWS is a Counter-UAS system that delivers a complete kill chain providing a layered detection capability coupled with an electronic warfare standoff capability and a scalable High Energy Laser (HEL) effector to deliver a hard kill. LOCUST LWS is built upon a modular, open-systems architecture and is comprised of high Technology Readiness Level (TRL) Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products and sensors. LOCUST LWS is architected to address the inherent need for mobility and quick deployment. The system can be emplaced by a single user in less than 15 minutes.

Directed Energy Applications

BlueHalo’s suite of Targets and Instrumentation characterizes High Energy Laser (HEL) and High Power Microwave (HPM) weapon system performance in operationally realistic test scenarios at tactically relevant ranges. BlueHalo designs, builds and tests novel sensor arrays that can withstand the direct effects of high energy laser weapon systems. These sensors collect, store, and transmit key performance measures about the beam, then process and present critical weapon performance metrics to ensure warfighter confidence in TTPs. Our team is advancing point measurement approaches to measure optical turbulence and better understand atmospheric propagation. In addition to measuring and characterizing DEW performance, these systems help develop operator proficiency in acquiring, tracking and engaging a reusable target. Representative targets include drones, aircraft, and stationary, mobile, land, and sea missiles.
